A Summer Evening

Steady click of the escalator,
playing in time,
to the rhythm of the night.

Where people of few,
leave for home,
in sometimes maybe one,
or maybe two.

Enjoying the summer evening,
as if tomorrow wasn’t a day even heard of,
or worth seriously believing.

Dragging out the most serious,
to the seriously unhinged.
We all share the night,
venturing out,
to see what the night will bring.
