Press Pause

Press pause.

It’s Sunday.

I don’t want this peace to leave,
as we roll through this sunshine in winter.

It’s as if all the tension from the week,
is put on hold
and that humdrum feeling is traded,
in for a soft, sweet surrender.

Kelly and Finn,
familiar words and melodies,
dancing in the background of this Camry,
lulling us into a calming disposition,
as we drive out further from home.

Book open wide,
I read something of a useless magic,
heavy in my lap.
Letting the words wander in,
in-between
idly glancing out at the fast moving scenery,
just so they have the time,
to settle and take their seat.

It’s a moment,
just to let everything be.
All that is felt, thought and seen.

I never want this feeling to leave.
